01 April. His position will be taken by
Geert-Willem Boven who is currently the
President of Martinair, the second biggest
Dutch airline. |
| Joop ter Haar, regarded
as one of the most successful Dutchmen,
started his career by cleaning the buses
of a small transport company that his father
owned. Later he worked as a tour guide throughout
Europe as a bus driver before his father
allowed him to get on to the management
team of OAD. "My father made an agreement
with me. Once a week he would only listen

positive views about the
development of OAD. The problems I had to
solve myself."
OAD still owns 170 buses and is still providing
local transport in the Eastern part of Holland.
Van Boven , 46 , feels he can increase the
market share of OAD in the travel business.
"The future is in long haul destinations,"

VIP Visits
Mr. Grahame Carder, Vice President Marketing
for Asia/Pacific of Hyatt Hotel International
was in Kathmandu recently to take stock
of the current situation in tourism. He
met with president of Nepal Incentive &
Convention Association Subodh Rana to exchange
views on the marketing of MICE tourism.
Hyatt Regency was inaugurated by HM King
Birendra in October 2000 and is one of the
finest hotels for basing incentive tour
groups in Nepal.
Dear Mr. Rana,
Many thanks for taking the time to meet
with me during my brief trip to KTM. I appreciated
your comments and the challenges faced by
the Nepali travel trade. Tourism is vital
for the welfare of Nepal: it's success can
only bode well for the Kingdom. I hope 2002
will be better than 2001, and you can count
on the Hyatt to continue to play an active
role in developing and encouraging visitors
to the Kingdom. I look forward to meeting
you again on my next trip.
Kind regards,
Yours sincerely,
Grahame Carder |
Yet
another new destination!
Our tireless effort to come up with new
and interesting destinations and products
within Nepal has again paid off with yet
another new destination - Bandipur.
At an altitude of 1,005 meters, Bandipur,
an ancient Newari mountain town, is untouched
by modernization and offers breathtaking
sweep of the Himalayan range from Langtang
in the east to Dhaulagiri in the west.
Accompanied by the Product Managers of Oad
Reizen, we could not help but fall in love
with the place. Confident that our clients
will love it too, we have decided to feature
Bandipur in our package.
